Here are som info on my Evo.

This is an real motorsport EvoI build by Danny Snobeck (chassinumber 000022).
My papers start at 1991 in France.

Sorry for the "mess" on the pictures. This thread are a lot of cut & paste so I may not be easy to follow.

When I got the car:

This car come to Norway with an 2.5-16DTM engine, but this engine was sold to an w202 rallycross car.
And the new owner of this car built an Volvo Evo engine(2,4L and 286whp).

I bougth this car without the engine.
I was not sure of what kind of engine I wanted to use, but finaly I bought an engine from an 99mod SLK230Kompressor.

Bild

I still use an Getrag(dogleg)gearbox(#108 ) from DTM who came with the car.

Bild

This engine has now a turbo an a DTA S60 EFI system.

Homemade:

The interior was "race only", and not like I wanted it. So I did make it more like 16v.

1.New dashboard with datalog, gauges and switches.

Bild

2.It was only room for one person in this car, so i installed two Sparco Evo with TRS 6pkt seatbelts.

Bild

3.I made some new doorpanels to the front doors. I used a lot of carbon.

Hello and wellcome!

You have done a lot of work on your car.
It was a real DTM-Car?

Some things that you have done are nice like the Airintakes on the Headlights.
But it`s hard for my to say.....BMW M3 Mirrors? EVO II Rearwing? And the Engine-swap....but it`s
your car! Enjoy it and have fun!

Yes, it's a org "DTM" car.
Well, the mirrors are from the previous owner. The reason he change them are because you don't see much in that tiny that was there.
The EvoII wing did alsow the prewious owner buy, but I buy the flaps he did't get. If you run at the track will this wing work more than the alu wing that was on the car, and that aluwing dod work better than a std. EvoI wing to. The parts are not for show, but to get good lap times. But I'm looking for a EvoI wing that I can mount on the car If I stop racing with it.

I know that the engine is not good for a entusiast, but we must realize that the development has been further than in the 80's.
I want a engine with ok power that runs well and that I can run races for several years, I don't have the money & time to rebuild a m102 engine twise at one season. With this engine can I drive smooth with good balance in the car alsow on low RPM (525nm @ 3750) and that is good for everybody.
With this engine i have more power than a m102 engine at almost 10 000rpm lower.

Well,

for me it`s hard course it was a orig. DTM car and it is hard for my to understand it.
Sorry i`m not an absolut fan of original cars. But wouldn`t it be cheaper to drive a Toyota Supra?
Or do it like the Reto-Meisel-Car? A 190 Body on a other car?

I´m feeling sad when I see what had heppend with an original DTM-Car.
But it`s your car! You can do with it what ever you want to do.

You have my full respekt for all the work, time and money you have spend in your cars!
You have done some great changes! I saw the six-gear Box in the 190! Hey thats fantastic!
But some things are to creazy for me!

There is not much work to replace the engine.
The owner before me use a Volvo engine in the car.

Well, I dont like the supra, and this car runs better than a 550hp supra :-D
I bougth this car because I want it, and had a lot of w201. I use this engine so I can use it without a lot of sponsors and a whole team.
Now i can start the engine and drive. A "DTM" engine are not easy to run and it cost a lot. With a m102 would I just run 1/2 season and then the car must stand still in 1-2 years waithing to be rebuild. And then I had a engine with less power. I realy love this engine. The car accelerates fast only with a little tap on the pedal. The power are totaly different from a "dtm"engine, But If the car was in a museum and not for track-use I would put in a m102.
I get 4 kompressor engine for the cost of a throttlebody to a m102 "dtm engine".

Hi Guys!

In my opinion it was the best choice to replace the "Volvo" engine with this MB engine - at least its powered by Mercedes - also with 4 cylinders and 16 valves. With the turbo kit on it, it produces also enough power for a race car. And last but not least it is not as expensive to run as an original DTM engine.

Nice work man...keep on racing :super

totally agree with that!
I ve seen these pictures on the rev before and i like the way how you did upgrade your car to make it even better than it was before- more user friendly and still a real mercedes.
Thank you for sharing the pictures.

I know that, but that doesn't change my opinion of the color. No matter if it's original or not. I like the Sonax and the Diebels Alt colors. 8)

The car was for sale here at the forum, but as long I didn't know the price and there is a law against bid at no startprice this was remowed.
