Hi all,

I sure hope it is ok for non-German speaking to join this great forum. I just bought a 1991 190e 2.5-16v here in Indonesia, so it is an RHD car. I have joined the US and UK forum and keen to understand better about the car. Surely need help on parts information as 16v specific part is harder to get here in Indonesia. Hope it is ok if I ask basic questions from time to time.

cheers,
Olie

Many thanks for the warm welcome. I am not sure how to post pics, I hope these links from photobucket work. Basically it is a 1991 Almandine red 2.5-16v. Body and engine look and sound ok, but still need some work on leaky exhaust (have it replaced by stainless from downpipe to middle) and a bit of rust at the boot. Previous owner seems to be an AMG fans, so he replaced the wheels, brakes and muffler with AMG parts, and I honesly like the look and stance. Think of replacing the headlights and blinker though. Cheers, Olie

Hi all,

Hope you do not mind if I ask some basic questions here as I am looking for parts for my 2.6-16v RHD. Need some insight from fellow member here.

1. What are the specific 16v parts that you would keep spare at home? The reason I ask, specific 16v parts are harder to find here in Indonesia, hence I want to order some online now and keep, just in case. Non-specific 16v parts, such as those similar or shared with other MB series like w124 and other w201 types (I think parts for fuel, ignition, cooling system and some electrical are similar with other MB models if not mistaken) are relatively easier to buy here in Indonesia.
2. Could someone help with the following part numbers? Are they correct for my car? Specifically not sure about accelerator cable.

Accelerator cable - 201 300 68 30
Valve cover gasket – 102 010 20 80
Cylinder head gasket –1020107041
Air filter – 102 094 00 04

3. Where is the best sources for bushings and suspension parts? Front suspension is harder to find? I find most online German parts suppliers do not have english web version, making ordering a bit more difficult, though still possible.
4. Should I replace the valve cover gasket should I need to take the cover off and have it painted/powder coated? Would you suggest powder coating for the valve cover?

Many thanks!

cheers,
Olie

Hello,

To 1.:
I would buy everthing, thats spesific for a 16V i can get. If you can get a engine, buy it! If you can get gearbox, buy it, a Bonet, and so on!

To 2.:
To Help you, it would be good, if you told us your VIN. Some of us have a lisence for the Mercedes EPC.

To.3.:
If you want Suspension parts, it would be good, if you can tell us what parts you are surching for. OEM or Raceparts.

To 4.:
You can powder coat your Valve-Cover. I did it with the one on my car. And I had no Problems!

Hope I could help you a Little bit.
Please tell us more!

Hi Lude,

Many thanks for the quick reply and insights.

1. Noted on this. Getting an engine shipped to Indo would take a while to get, but I get the idea.
2. My VIN number is WDB2010352F793546 - I am thinking of buying from UK online parts supplier, bestpartstore.co.uk that seems to be part of German E&S pkwteile.
3. OEM parts. No plan to race, especially with auto gearbox, though I would be keen on uprated parts that could las longer like better bushing perhaps. Not many suspension parts from bestpartstore.co.uk.
4. Noted on this, thanks. But do I need to change the gasket if I move the cover?

cheers,
Olie
