16V=score 10....
M5=score Zero. :shock: :D

Turbo flows to 680 PS...enough said.
..and i shift @ 9000rpm.

16V=10Punkte
M5=0Punkte :shock: :D

Der Turbo macht bis zu 680PS mit ...genug gesagt.
.. und schaltpunkt bei 9000U/min.

Maki btw..you asked for how the stainless steel turbo exhaust manifold we made looks, and the quality of welds asf....there ya go.
Plenum is of late style Audi sports diffusor.
Works like there´s no tomorrow.
Car runs just like a stocker...until the boost hits at approx 3600rpms...then all hell breaks lose.:D

Hi Jesper,
i must say not bad at all
One question did you stay with the standart radiator ?
(cause on the pics it loooks like this).
Can it handle the more power and heat?
Bye
Maki

Guys.
The car has mainly been a rolling test bed for the evolutuion of the VEMS project, and so far so good.
The mere truth is that the car ,as is, truly runs like a bat out of hell.
However...
This is NOT to become a race car,nor is it to be a show car or similar.
It´s built to be a fun little roadracer with longevity and function in mind.
Hence the absolute lack of "bling-bling" parts.(I for one can´t stand that crap anyways,so..)
So,what am i saying?
That the "soft" values impressions the car gives are the important ones.
Dynamics, behaviour, mileage(yeah well...) asf are more important in this case than outright power.
We´ve put this thing together to make it WORK.
As such...naturally the idea has been born to perform similar work for customers-altho the shop of mine has always been about "one off" stuff.
..and...
Putting together something like this with boost limited to say 0,7 bars will STILL produce in the neighbourhood of 400PS(370-380 somewhere would be an educated guess)...and seing the rather LOW boosts involved(due to the large turbo compressor) it´ll live.
Of course not like a stocker, but i wouldn´t be surprised for such and engine to stay togehter for 50-70 thousand kilometers, and when in need of overhaul..it won´t be an arm and a leg anyways but more to the point of new bearings, rings and so forth.
Already talked it over with Jörgen, and putting a boost "limiter" into the VEMS is an easy enough task.

Maki.
Yeah.We still run the stock rad.
As such it seems borderline,bu i´m thinking along the lines of installing a pushing electric fan ahead of the radiator/intercooler cluster as of this weekend.
Only problems we´ve seen so far arises @ idle or thereabouts.

One MAJOR flaw so far tho is the clutch pressure plate.
When we exceed 1,1 bars..it simply rolls over dead.
Albeit the 4 puck sinter disc installed helps,it´s not the whole answer.
Currently looking into the SAAB/Volvo ones for their heftier models.

Ok Jesper,
everything sounds very good.
But i've got one big question - the Power-Output.
You're saying that with 0,7bar your car will make about 370-380PS.
How is this possible?
The reason why i'm asking is that I'll run with 1 bar boost and i'm expecting something between 300-340PS.
I've seen that 2 other members from the 190Rev Board made also about 400PS with 1bar boost.
I know that the power output is depending on different circumstances like size of the Turbo , the headwork that is done and s.o. but what i know is that with 1bar boost you get about 100% more Horsepower. I've also seen some E30 M3 that had with 1 bar boost about 330-340PS- and some E30 325 had also something over 300PS.
So you understand now why i'm asking?
Am i missing something or is there an other explanation?
I'm asking not cause i'm doubting your numbers- but i'm curious about how much Horsepower i'll have ;-)
Bye
Maki

Maki.
It doesn´t work the way you describe.
Power-as in turbos-is a matter of boost AND FLOW.
Ergo, the larger the turbo the less boost you need to reach a given amount of power.

and i'm saying it again: great to have u back!!

Carbon.
I logged the VEMS the other day.
Started out with 420cc injectors.
That´s fuel to approx 350 honest ones.
These bottom out @ 0,4 bar of boost.

Upper limit?
I recap...
Back in the late 80s/early 90s a Swedish dragracer by the name of Kjell turboed one of these engines and put it into a rail chassis dragracing car with a Chevrolet Vega body.
Car weighed in at approx 1100 kg.
He went down the 1/4 mile in 7,80sh with a trap speed of 330 km/h.
If we calculate that backwards it translates into ONETHOUSAND FOURHUNDRED horsepower.
There´s ONE thing that never lies...and that is a timeslip.
Dynos and what have you can be a load of crock...timeslips on the other hand...
What that means..is that..there IS no limit to what can be extracted from the little engine that could.
We´re learning..that boosted HP to a great extent is a question of what the same engine delivers without the turbo in place.

As far as being occupied...tell me about it broh!!!
Feels like i´m working 24/7 right now.. ;)

Thanx Marc!

Carbon.
So far on the kill list...:)
SL55
-03 Ferarri 355F1
-00 BMW M5
-02 BMW M3

..and the list keeps on growing :D

Anyways.
Have clocked a couple of hundred kilometers by now,and..so far so good.
Tossed the old 420cc injectors out of there and installed the 720cc Siemens racing ones as well as replacing the spark plugs with some Bosch racing ones.
Remapped a little last night(short of time),and again...power is downright insane in light of the VERY limited boost.
Did talk the whole setup over with two old friends at GIK turbo(local, rather large company),and their guess is that the engine is taking the boost in such a manner that they think i´ll bottom it out somewhere the other side of 1 bar.
Remains to be seen.
