Amen to that!!!!!!!
Maki.
You´re actually wrong on one account.
My motor(bottom end) has inxs of 400`km on it total without a rebore
So...as the new build up is approaching the "ready level"..the power output will be through the roof in comparsion.
So..Jo..i sincerly hope someone will translate this for you if english is a problem.
I´ve spent the better part of my life around race cars one way or another.
I indeed do this for a living,and i live as i preach.
What´s more is that Maki is correct in that what is in general thought of as hotroding is very much alive and kicking in countries like great britain..and in general up here in scandinavia-in contrast to for instance entire europe in general.
So..
For the record.
Yes.
We´ve learned to extract downright redicolous amounts of power by the use of turbochargers up here and...Yes...we´ve learned how to make them stick together as well.
Not just down a dragstrip, but for the long haul.
Building a 500hp 2.3 liter 16V 102.983 is not a phantasy,it´s a damn reality.No joke.
Also zum festhalten
Ja
In fact..for dragracing use ONLY the little engine(102.983 that is) has been made to produce ONETHOUSAND FOURHUNDRED PS for brief moments by a fellow countryman by the name of Kjell Karlsson more than 15 yrs ago.
That says a thing or two of evolution.
What we have planned for Maki´s car is a low boost setup, again with reliability vs fun factor in mind.In other words the idea is to make the little engine happy as well as having it stick together.
Power numbers...i´ll leave that up to Maki-if he feels compelled to reveal them, and trust me-like it or not...OH will the turbo setup ever deliver.
In a sense Jo...welcome to the 21st century.
Jahrhundert
Turbos in general is anything but new.
What we HAVE learned is how to use what Frank here just gone through...the use of engine management.(Ie; stand alone fuel injection)
(Frank...honestly...did even YOU expect the power number you got from as "simple" a modification?)
Turbos im allgemeinen sind nix neues.
Was wir gelernt haben ist , was Frank gerade getan hat - richtig zu benutzen...sprich Frei programmierbare Steuergeräte / Einspritzsysteme
(Frank...ehlrich...hättest du je erwartet solche Leistung mit diesen geringen Modifikationnen zu erreichen ? )
Lude...jungs in general.
Here´s a thing to ponder.
What kills engines...is NOT power.
What kills engines is
Was Motoren killt ist
a;Revs. If you rev it to the moon...things will break.However..the 102.983 is a fantastic little motor from that respect.Anyone that begs to differ?Cause...in that case i´m here to call that someone(who ever he is) a bullshitter.
Why?
Simple.
For the better part of a year i´ve shifted my worn out piece a shit engine that STILL holds the STOCK mercedes inner parts in general at 9000rpms on a DAILY basis.(Just the camshaft has been changed)
THAT is how well designed the little motor is.
My shiftpoint indeed IS ninethousand rpms.Period.
In short,my hat is off for Cosworth and Mercedes-cause they got this one right the first time.
a; Drehzahlen.
b;Detonation.
Engine "pinging" as it is also known.
What most people don´t know though is WHAT the pinging does.
When detonation occurs cylinder pressure will skyrocket as a result of the two flame front(the intended and the one we don´t want) collide.
Normaly cyl press for the average Joe can be explained as a function of approx 5 tons.
When detonation occurs...this can easily reach into 50 tons...and inxs of that.
Of course stuff will break as a result.
What we´ve learned with high end turbo motors...is that the "natural need" of the motor to have a certain ignition advance isn´t there anymore as the cylinder has a COMPLETELY different working prospect.
Ie;ignition timing needs to be pulled out.
Example;
A full on,full blown race 16V will "need" 32 deg of timing at full throttle and on race gas.
Ok.
Now..same engine on 99 octane Shell will take...29.
The same engine with SLIGHTLY lowered compression AND ONE 1 BAR of turbo boost...will take....
18.
You do the math.
b; Klopfen
The mere FACT is that a 400PS turbo motor does NOT have twice the cylinder peak pressure of its 200PS naturaly aspirated counterpart.
It will have peaks that MAYBE will range into something like 20% more(On a setup like the one we´ve got planned for Maki WAY less)-which the innards of a state of the art engine will take on like a breeze.
Ie;if you JUST KEEP OUT OF DETONATION the engine will live-NO MATTER THE POWER LEVEL.
As a safe guard ONLY-look above-we also ALWAYS run the turbo engines a slight bit rich on fuel.
Reason is that this way of programing builds a "safe zone" IF it all goes to hell in a handbasket as the extra fuel will COOL the process down a bit.
If what i just wrote is unclear in any way...go back and read it again, cause what it means...
Is that the days of when turbo engines go "boom" like they´re going out of style are history.
We learned the lesson, and we got victorius.
Still doubtful?
Ok.
I stated 500 PS is EASILY achieved if you KNOW what you´re doing.
In fact...the hardcore racers around this country alone have surpassed one thousand horsepower with engine of similar displacement and layout since a NUMBER of years back.
Weiterhin Zweifel?
Ok
i habe behaupted 500PS sind leicht erreichbar wenn man weiss was man tut.
Maki´s even been to illegal races when he was up here where he personaly saw cars...that is downright unthinkable in germany.
Like...old "schwedishes panzar" with a hardcore tune E34 3.6M5 engine in it...asf asf...
"Limmet" that just dyoned inxs of 1000 with his E30...
"Syclone Robban" that this summer set the world record for 4WD with a 8,98 down the quarter mile.
These are NOT full blown race cars...these are cars you can end up by at the next local traffic light around here.
Worst part is...they´re by the bundle, and more of them are coming out to hit the streets around here for every day that passes.
Horsepower wars?
You bet.
For real.
PS- Krieg ?
Darauf kannst du wetten
Wirklich
