hello an welcome at our forum.

looks very nice, what you are bilding threre.

for me it seams there is not enough space for the airbox, if you use the original breaking zylinder.
where did yoe get the 4 in 1 hedder? do you have the rest of the exaust sytem too?

are these suspension arms selfmade, or have you got some old racing parts?

Hallo,

The Sump fabrication is complete.

Just a couple of small parts to do and
then the Engine can be put back together
and fitted.

Just have to make the Gearbox 'Linkage'
fit, as its a 6 Speed with nice close
ratios 4.22 1st - 1.00 5th and 6th is
0.87 so good for Autobhan.

Going to try a 3.27 CW/p in the LSD to start
and if no good will use the 3.69 CW/p.

Gearbox has a single top rod selector as
opposed the 3 rails on the 190 16v
Getrag.

Hi,

190sl Quote -

'' A hole in the trunk

All the well does is hold the spare wheel
and rust out.
I have a 'removable lightweight panel''
that does not rust.

More room for the exhaust etc.

Its so easy working on the Diff etc now,
not sure why Merc did not do something
like it in the first place.

Hi,

Was not sure where to post this link ?

Not a 201 but a 202 which has now been
completed and tested on the Track.

I was amazed to learn that the splitters and
flaps adjust themselves !!!!!

Hallo,

As I am using a 2.5 16v head with the 2.3 16v
block [80.2 short stroke] then as I am running
longer rods, 150mm,11.5.1 compression pistons
at 96.00mm and the
'top' land is closer to the piston deck,
piston cooling is required.

Went with the BMW E36 M3 Evo Oil squirters
fitted into the 16v block 'main Oil Galley;.

These Oil Squirters only really start to work at
around 2- 2.5 bar, so by increasing the oil
relief valve pressure up to 5 bar, it should
mean that at below 1500 rpm, the engine
will make around 1.5-1.7 bar oil pressure
and increase all the way to 3.5/4.0 bar at
6500 rpm and over.

Thx for info and pics, how about the price and the amount of work needed to make it fit?

Re: My Project

Beitragvon Gorilla » 7. Jan 2011, 20:17

Hi,

Nagilum- I made up the 4 alloy blocks from some
6160 hard alloy.

Cost about 10.00 euro.

The Alloy blocks act as 'pedistals' as there
is a 20mm ''lip' from the oil galley your
drilling into where the bores continue
past.

The oil galley is not flat so you made need to
machine the bottom of the blocks so that they sit
nice and flat and tight to the oil galley there
being bolted to.

I then drilled the alloy blocks to take a M6 high tensile
Cap socket bolt, so that the head of the
cap socket bolt locates the ''alloy block''
onto engine block when it is threaded into
the oil galley.

ie] 9.0mm recess hole for the 'cap' of the
bolt and then m6 hole.

You will need to machine down the Cap socket
heads a little so that they are not to large
as you will not be able to make a 'seal'
when you bolt the oil squirters on due
to size of the flange.

The m6 bolts were 50mm long and had been
centre drilled all the with a 2.5mm drill so as
to feed the BMW E36 Oil squirters which are
bolted to the alloy blocks by m5 Dome socket
bolts and a ''raised cup spring washer''.

The 4 x high tensile M6 X 50MM bolts were 2 euro,
and the 4 x BMW E36 Evo Oil squirters were
15.00 euro each inc Tax . [60.00 euro]

The 8 x m5 dome cap sockets and cup washers
were 4 euro inc tax.

Position the Alloy blocks over the Oil Galley and drill a
pilot hole, then drill to 4.5mm and then 'tap'
for 6MM std pitch thread and bolt the alloy
blocks on using high temp thread lock.

I then used a 400c High temp oil resistant
silicon to make a seal around the flange of the oil
squirters before fixing them on to the
alloy blocks with high temp
thread lock etc.

When positioning your alloy blocks just have the
Crank handy so you can double check all clearances
before drilling anything.

The nice thing about the BMW Oil squirters is
that you can very carefully alter the nozzel direction so
that you get the oil spray in exactly the location
your require.

Took me an afternoon to do, but I had made the
Alloy blocks a few days before.

By using a 50mm long bolt to secure the alloy
blocks, the bolt will protrude about 10mm into
the oil galley, so as they 'hang' upside down
you have to have a good oil pressure for them to
work correctly which is exactly what you require.

Most, including Mercedes fit their Oil Squirters into
the 'return' oil galley so that they are fitted after the oil
pressure relief valve, not before.

After doing some research on this, I prefer them
before.

Total costs approx 95.00 euro including all materials
plus your time.

Hope it all makes sense.

Regards,

Gorilla.

Hallo,

I am going to run ''COP'' Coil on Plug,
but the shortest COP I can locate
are the Bosch ones used by BMW on
the X5/7 Series/E46-E90 3 Series.

I had a spare set from my CSL, but
they stick out the top cover by around
35-40mm.

Looked at the Honda CBR600 COP which
seem to be favored by the Integra/ Typr R
brigade, but they are no shorter and in
being configured for Motor Bike use
may have a shorter duration ?

Has anybody moved to COP and found
some ''shorter'' versions ?

Around 100-105mm total length would
be ideal, but not sure anything
this short is made ?

Any help or assistance appreciated.

Gorilla.

Hallo,

Uprated Clutch Cover/Pressure plate-

I did a search but did not find much.

I think the standard 16v Clutch disc
will be fine for road and a little Track
use.

Would like to uprate the Clamping
force and was seeing if any other
Merc Clutch Pressure Cover would
work.

Something like the C220 D runs a
228mm clutch and has 320+NM Torque
as standard, which would be fine for
tuned 16v engine.

The standard Pressure Cover could
also be altered at the 'falcrum' to increase
clamping force, but a ''off the shelf''
solutiuon suits me better !!!!

Any body using another Merc Cover plate
with the 16v std Clutch disc ?

Regards,

Gorilla.
